Air Traffic Control - Now and in the future

Monday, 30 August 2010

Airways New Zealand Programme Manager, Rob Irwin, gave an enthralling presentation to RCW members at their luncheon on 30 August about the current state of the NZ Air Traffic Control system and what it might look like in future.

Airways NZ has embarked on a number of technology projects which have created novel and innovative ways of managing air traffic flows in controlled air space around New Zealand's major airports. In addition to increasing passenger safety the automated systems produce huge fuel savings for airlines.

The New Zealand approach has resulted in several state of the art new products which Airways NZ will market to other air traffic control jurisdictions.

The presentation below is the one Rob gave to the club.
