RCW farewells Marion Patchett
Monday, 12 December 2011Fellow Rotarians,
I have sad news. For over 22 years our Rotary Club has been guided and supported by a unique, knowledgeable and hardworking individual who has been a passionate example both in practice and in advocacy of all that Rotary stands for.
It is by no coincidence that the Rotary Club of Wellington has been the preeminent club in New Zealand. That has happened because our members have been actively helped by our long serving Executive Secretary Marion Patchett.
Marion has advised me of her intention to retire in the new year. We are not losing Marion just yet. As happens when there is a retirement the Board has reviewed Marion’s job description and will be advertising for a replacement shortly. But I am grateful for Marion’s support during this transitional period.
Marion will be with us through until March 2012 when at an appropriate time and function in March a grand farewell will be arranged. Members will also be invited to contribute to Marion’s farewell gift.
Marion is off for an extended holiday which is involved around an Inner Wheel International Conference in Istanbul in April and we look forward on your return to you coming back to the club and telling us all about it.
This is a momentous change for our club. As we approach our centenary Marions unique and long standing record will be recorded as we prepare our History.
Marion there will be time for speeches in the new year but let me record right now our sincere thanks for all you have done.
James Austin
President
